The following paragraphs describe projects and ideas from Andrew Nash with links to pages that provide additional information.
- Bus Meister - Bus Meister uses Web 2.0 techniques (e.g. wikis, social networking and on-line games) to identify and test ideas for making existing public transport systems work better. This link takes you to the Bus Meister home page.
- Web 2.0 in Transport Planning - Web 2.0 techniques are being used increasingly in transport planning. This link takes you to my Web 2.0 in transport planning page.
- Westbahnstrasse Tram Track Rebuild - The Wiener Linien (Vienna's public transport operator) has been rebuilding the tram tracks in our neighborhood this summer ... and I have been taking photos. This link takes you to a page with some of my best photos and movies of the construction process.
- Communications - Communications is a key element of project success. It includes developing written text and multimedia presentations of all kinds, but also facilitating meetings and organizing public involvement programs. In the past years I have helped clients in all aspects of the communications process from translating complex transport and urban/regional development texts to developing innovative public involvement programs. This link takes you to a page that describes my communications work in more detail.
- Public Transport Efficiency Project - Increasing public transport efficiency is an excellent way to save energy and improve the environment at minimal cost. I have been interested in developing and implementing techniques to improve public transport efficiency since I started working in transport consulting. I helped develop programs to improve PT efficiency in the San Francisco Bay Area and have completed several research studies in the years since. This link takes you to a page that describes my ideas for improving public transport in more detail.
- Railway Planning and Operations - Railways are fascinating institutions that integrate technical and social elements into a critical element of our transport system. They are complex organizations full of history and have played a fundamental role in developing our society. In California I worked in the engineering department of a commuter railway and helped plan major railway projects, in Europe I have completed research on using technology to improve railway operations and on innovation strategies. This link takes you to a page that describes some of my ideas for improving railway operations and planning.
- Creativity and Innovation in Transportation - Creativity is critical in every human endeavor and it's especially important for transport planning. This page provides some ideas and links for thinking creatively about transport planning.
- International City Planners Network (2005) - The ICPN was a professional internet-based social network started in early 2005 by Andrew Nash. Since social networking has become ubiquitous since the site was originally created, the site was closed in September 2008.
- Zürich Public Transport and Walking Tours - I was privileged to live in Zürich from 1999-2007 and work at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich). This link contains Zürich walking tours and information about Zürich's public transport - perhaps the finest system in the world.
- San Francisco Transport and Recommendations - I lived in San Francisco between 1984 and 2004. These pages present my recommendations for friends and planners traveling to San Francisco (walking tours, tips on what to see and do in San Francisco, day trips outside San Francisco, etc.) as well as examples of my work and thoughts on San Francisco planning and transport.
- Traffic Calming (2005) - Traffic calming is a great way to improve the livability of neighborhoods. This page presents links to some research on traffic calming.
